Apple TV has been one of those products that hasn't necessarily worked the way apple has wanted it to. CEO Steve Jobs has said that it has been more of a hobby, as Apple has mainly focused on the iPhone and Mac computers.
The Apple TV has recently gained some speed with the introduction of movie rentals through iTunes. The newest thing now is rumored that the new line will have video recording capabilities and will even run with the iPhone or iPod touch as remote controls. DVRs are very popular now and this would be a huge plus to the small market share that the Apple TV currently has. Though this is only a rumor, I see it happening soon in the future for Apple.
