immune system in a jar?

A vaccine is used to prevent the body from contracting a certain virus. Once a vaccine is discovered to have the affect of blocking a virus this is great. But, sometimes the process of tesing a vaccine can be difficult because people aren't lining up to have experimental vaccines tested on them. In response to thius problem a viriologist, George Lewis, from the University in Marlyand has figured out how to create a makeshift himan immune system in a jar. By culturing some white blood cells that are in the prescence of a virus, the removed whitecells will continue to produce virus fighting antibodies. This new way to test vaccines may allow for the acceleration of medical research in curing or fighting many diseases.
