A Google Prototype for a Precision Image Search

Google is beginning to reveal more information about its new "VisualRank" application.

Currently when you search Google for an image it finds the image based off of the file name.  This technology will reference the keyword to the actual image in the photo, not just the file name. What this means is that Google is currently in the processes of developing better face detection and image detection technologies that will analyze a photo's contents and associate them with keywords.

They are looking into this technology in order to make their image searches more relevant to what people are looking for.
