At newscientist.com, writers have made a ballsy move and are aiming at projecting the top five technology failures of 2008. We are in a volatile place technologically where things are constantly changing so it's interesting to see what new scientists projections are.
1. Facebooks problem lies in its loss of private user information through a ad system it uses called beacon. This may have damaged themselves by seemingly valuing the ad company over users.
2. Wkipedia is being challenged by a similar open-sourec search engine called google knol. Here academics are allowed to contribute making information more transparent. Google is king and it is looking like google will take down wikipedia in the open-sorce search engine world.
3. On the other hand google may suffer from stretching itself too thin in followingventures into renewable energy research.
4. Second life is sinking. Don't know what it is as no evedence is provided.
5. Lastly are all dating websites. People are tiring of online dating and eurn for personal interaction.
