Zap, an electric car based company in Santa Rosa, California is planning on introducing a three wheeled car called the Alias in 2009. The car is said to be able to top speeds of 100 mpg and will be able to go upto 150 miles on a single charge. The price tag for the car is said to be $30,000. A benefit of the the car being three wheeled instead of four wheeled, it will be able to go farther than its four wheeled counter part since it is lighter in weight. For the Alias, Zap is currently working with China's Youngman Automotive Group to produce this car. Another advantage it has is that it can get to the market faster because it will be classified as a motorcycle and will have less regulations to get through. Besides the Alias, Zap also has other projects in the works to hopefully help the country go greener.
This is just another company that is trying get in the "Go Green" trend. Not till the cars are out can we tell if the company is a success or not. Of course there will be those individuals who will buy these vehicles just to be the first on the block to have the newest toy.
