Eddy Stevens, a business man in Australia, began to modify Sony play stations to allow the consoles to play imported or copied games. Sony found out about this modification and took Stevens to court. At first in the High Court ruling voted in favor of Stevens. But the decision was later overturned by the government. The U.S. government pressed it to make legislative amendments to protect Sony's right to restrict where consumers buy its software. In the future, privacy cases like this are going to increase. Though the government can do what they can by making amendments and laws to protect corporations and people, the law can only go so far. The government can not actively screen everything that is going on. In this article it emphasizes that the companies themselves are going to have to use technology to sustain the law. By coding their technology and ensuring their own safety they can help themselves against the infringement of their privacy.
