Is now the time to buy consumer electronics?

Richard Gikes, executive director of the Home Theater Specialists of America, states that now is the best time to buy consumer electronics. The reasons for this are linked to China. The cheap labor days in China are coming to an end because of new labor and worker protection laws. This has pushed labor costs up 15 percent. The price of materials used in making electronics, such as components and metals, have also gone up. Product supply is going to be low because factories are shutting down in June to clear the air for the Olympics. Another reason why now is best to buy consumer electronics is because of the depreciating U.S. dollar. The dollar has fallen 10 percent against the Chinese yuan. This is bad news because the majority of consumer electronics are produced in China. As a result, prices are going to be on the rise in order to increase profits.
