I came across this interesting article. It talks about the how AT&T expects that the Internet will reach its capacity by 2010 unless there is significant investment put in by companies and investors to maintain it. AT&T's VP for legislative affairs says that the rise in HD video content over the next to years will be too much for the internet to handle. That makes sense considering the fact that HD video files are about ten times larger than standard video files. Also, more and more people are watching video over the Internet on sites like you tube, and downloading video from programs like iTunes. I think it's good that big companies like AT&T are being vocal about the problems facing the Internet in the next couple years. It's going to be interesting to see if other companies get involved.

It was always a rat race. We develop a faster machine and then we make our software more complicated to consume the resources. Such a thought always make me more pessimistic....
