Vista is obviously the straw that broke the camels back. Many users want to keep XP and not use Vista. Apparently they are planning on going in a completely different direction.
The most popular idea is that they will go modular. This means that the operating system will be provided in pieces, and maybe even having users pay for a month-to-month or year-to-year basis. Basically you would start out with a pretty basic Windows and then upgrade accordingly to what fits your needs. Microsoft would have to start some sort of subscription service.
Let's hope this isn't a failure like Vista...
